Thanks for checking out my blog. I believe in hard work and personal responsibility. On occasion, my blog posts will be short rants triggered by a recent event. Other posts will be more thoughtful due to my passion for history and for the traditional values of our country. The path set forth by our Founding Fathers was right on and started an imperfect America with perfect ideals that later paved the way for the birth of the Republican Party, the Party of Lincoln, that was able to end slavery in America.
The world is a complicated place, and we too often want all solutions wrapped up in a pretty little package, but that is impossible. It is my hope through history I might be able to simplify things a bit. This blog is an opportunity for me to share some history with you and how that history may tie in with things taking place today in our current world.
Also, as a huge fan of historical quotes, and one who believes that “The wisdom of the wise, and the experience of ages, may be preserved by quotation” (Isaac Disraeli) I will often use historical quotes in my posts. I sincerely feel that history is one of the most important resources available to us, but it is all too often misconstrued and used as a political weapon. Propaganda has distorted history from what truly happened and set a narrative that is often too difficult to correct. In some posts, I will attempt to set the record straight on some historical facts. Be warned, for “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” (George Santayana)

I’ve been working on a few different postings, and I’ve gone back and updated a few I’ve already done. I use Twitter a bit too. But, I’ve been very busy with other things.
A majority of Americans support what the Tea Party stands for, but unfortunately too many Americans don’t seek out the truth of what it is the Tea Party stands for. The main steam media is more corrupt now than it has ever been. It might as well be state run.

The Tea Party is more unpopular now than ever, as they have driven the Republican Party too far to the right and produced very poor candidates. My point is uninformed people answer polls based on false narratives pushed by the mainstream media. If you broke down what the Tea Party movement actually stands for point-by-point, most people agree with them. Too many people simply don’t put the time or effort in to actually educate themselves.
I agree that some poor candidates have been backed by local Tea Parties, but some great ones have been backed too – Rand Paul and Marco Rubio come to mind, one of which will likely be the next POTUS.

Neither will every be president, and it’s unlikely that Paul will be re-elected because people see he nuts. And I’m trying to be inflammatory or rude, in all honesty. Rand Paul is crazy. Rubio will be nominated for VP in 2016, but Republicans won’t win if Hillary runs. She’s more popular than Obama. People do know what the Tea Party stands for, and we overwhelming reject it because its a relic of the past.

What I do think is that our society needs to evolve, and democratic/market socialism is the next step. The Tea Party is holding onto ideas (about limited/no government) that no longer have relevance to our society and its needs. No system can last forever, nor are they designed to. Ideas that had resonance in the past will not always have resonance. This is not about freedom; we have freedom. This is about societal evolution, and the Tea Party is going to be left behind in its bitter isolation.

It is market-socialism that caused the Housing Market Bubble/Crash, and will cause the Education Bubble/Crash. Posted by G | February 10, 2013, 6:14 pmThe financial crisis was caused by too little regulation (with some exceptions; I agree there were some regulation that contributed to it) and too little government oversight and enforcement after 30 years of Republicans slashing enforcement financing and preventing enforcement.
Socialism in Germany and the Scandinavian countries works remarkably well. Other countries not so well, but Italy and Greece are simply not governable without a dictatorship. I am certain that we can agree on that.
As for the “Communist” countries: they were not/are not really “communist.” Communism appeared, according to Marx, after the need for government disappeared.
That is, in “The Communist Manifesto” Marx predicted “communism” would develop when class conflict finally ended with the overthrow of the bourgeoisie (the final ruling class). With the end of separate classes, he argued, the need for government would end, because the government in his day existed only to protect the property of the wealthy. (As it does today, for the 1%.)
Engles wrote the following:

“The proletariat seizes state power, and then transforms the means of production into state property. But in doing this, it puts an end to itself as the proletariat, it puts an end to all class differences and class antagonisms, it puts an end also to the state as the state.”

“Communist” countries just use the label to impose a one-party (and brutal) dictatorship. The label is misused, in other words. They were/are no more “communist” than the current “Liberal Democratic Party” of Russia is either liberal or democratic. They are just meaningless labels to give a philosophic cover to dictatorship. The people that knew the best that Russian “communism” or “socialism” didn’t work were the guys at the top. They new they were slinging nonsense that they covered up with philosophical banter.
So therefore, despite what you have been taught and probably believe, “communism” is exactly what you people want — the end of all government and the total liberation of mankind from any sort of oppression.
So you are actually communists, because you and Marx want(ed) the exact same thing … Right?
As to private property: Marx foretold the end of private property, it is true, but only the private property of the bourgeoisie — because no one else owned any in his day (metaphorically). He wanted to abolish the privileges of the ruling bourgeoisie, and because the society was constructed on control of private property, to end exploitation of 9/10ths of the population, private property must be abolished, he argued.
(I am not arguing that Marx was correct on every issue, and I am not a Marxist.)
However, modern-day Social Democrats and social democracies do not abolish private property; this is accepted as part of that doctrine now, except for some fringe groups. Again, see Scandinavia and Germany as examples.
I honestly believe that unregulated capitalism was necessary to jump start modern infrastructure; and regulated capitalism to build it; but no system should or can last forever. Socialism of some form is simply the next step. There’s nothing to fear about it. Look at Germany. They alone have weathered this economic storm, and they have a strongly socialist (and democratic) system that has functioned fairly well before and after reunification (but no system is perfect in any way).
So why, therefore, would we not want to emulate (but not replicate) the system used in the one country that has weathered the storm? Why not use them as an example, a framework to build something uniquely American? There is no dishonor in learning from mistakes.
Unregulated capitalism failed us in the last 30 years. It doesn’t mean that all capitalism is bad, but it needs reform. All systems need reform after a time. Nothing is perfect, nor permanent. Why not look to successful nations for guidance? There is no need to be so arrogant as a nation as to refuse to learn from the experience of other nations. That is silly and self-defeating.
